Good nurses are invaluable! Elsie Ott’s story is one of many nurses who have served our country. She and others made a big difference in the care of those wounded in wars. It’s always appreciated when you include the brave women who did their part, Tara.
Absolutely, women were certainly among the best of the Greatest Generation. Lt. Elsie Ott may have been the first to be a flight nurse on an intercontinental flight and her skills and determination caused her to ask for additional training.
Women have equal courage to men and other than physical strength are equal or superior to men in most jobs and situations.
We probably wouldn't have won WW2 without the efforts of women. Women were vital in most non combat roles and we now know that women can serve equally to men in most combat roles.
Thank you Tara and thank you to Elsie Ott and all other women who have served this great nation.
Wow! Great story about some more nurses that were also an integral component of the Greatest Generation. Without valiant nurses like 2nd. Lt. Elsie Ott these life saving flights may never have come to be.
Love this back story about WWII & amazing it is to E-Vac 1.2 million warriors losing only 46 but losing 17 nurses. I am in awe being a RN myself I’m saving this one for NURSES DAY May 6, 2024

Anyone going into combat on a plane is amazing, but these nurses were there for something else!
Great story!
Military nurses are a special kind of awesome! Especially those of this generation who served during WW2 and pioneered new healthcare frontiers.
Women were of the greatest, even those who stayed home and waited ❤️
🇺🇲 Learned something new today. Military nurses are an amazing group that should not be forgotten. 🇺🇸

Great story!. Love reading about these women & what they accomplished.
An incredible story of devotion and bravery. My sister was a nurse in Vietnam and I am proud of her everyday and obviously glad she is still with us.
