Thanks for sharing about this beloved movie and television star! That generation proved themselves over and over! Eddie Albert was another of those who did not blow his horn about the valor he had shown during his service in WW2 and at Tarawa.

Mr. Albert keep me laughing in my childhood. I knew he served and was a quite Veteran like many from WWII. I now know the rest of the story. His actions seem to qualify him for a Silver Star if not the Medal of Honor. God bless him and the greatest generation. Thank you Tara. πŸ™β€οΈπŸ’ͺπŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²

Never knew this story about Eddie Albert, but glad I was introduced to it. I will never see him as just an actor any longer, but a hero who helped to save his men and our country.

Eddie Albert was a remarkable man! More than an actor he was a WW II hero. It’s nice to learn about that part of his life. He obviously had a big impact on many of his fellow Marines. No doubt he would have helped them all if he’d been able to do it. He did what he could and at least was recognized with a Bronze Star.

A great story about Eddie Albert, like so many of his generation he was willing to die to save others! Freedom is never free. Thanks Tara!

I did know this story, but I enjoyed being reminded of the details. When I watched Green Acres as child I would never have guessed Arnold was a hero!

A great story from the Greatest Generation. Thank you, Tara Ross, for reminding us that Eddie Albert was, first a Hero, later an actor.

πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ It wasn't until I became an adult that I understood my dad's affinity for certain movies, TV shows, and actors.

The people on the screen had served, as dad had, in WW2.

He knew the real character of those Hollywood stars, and supported them because they stood up when their country needed them.

He did the same for the ordinary heroes in every day life too.

Different time...

Thank you, TR, for the memories. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡²

God bless Lt. Eddie Albert and the rest of the Greatest Generation. Without people who willingly risked their own lives so that we aren't speaking German or Japanese now. His actions are truly amazing. Thank you Tara.
