Mrs. Fillmore was awarded the bronze star and the purple heart for just doing her job. Amazing how that happens. No, that young nurse was in harms way, doing the job of saving lives when her medical tent was bombed and she sustained serious injuries.

The gender doesn't matter and, I'm certain that had women served on the front line, women would be as brave as their male counterparts. Mrs. Fillmore was an American Hero and a part of the Greatest Generation. Thank you Tara for remembering this woman for was just doing her job.

These nurses are some of our most unrecorded and unappreciated heros. They were right in the thick of battle taking care of those soldiers who needed their help. According to them, they were just doing their part of protecting America. This had been true down through history.
