Thank you Tara. Yes, the Coast Guard is often forgotten or thought of as lesser importance than the other branches of the Military. However, the Coast Guard is extremely important to the defense of our nation.

I was trained as a Navy Corpsman and I trained along with a number of Coasties who use or used the Navy schools to train their people. I actually grew to be a little jealous of the Coast Guard because their duties and duty stations seemed to be more interesting than what the Navy had to offer, at least during the Vietnam War.

The Coast Guard is comprised of top notch personnel and material. Their duty is vitally important to the security of the United States.
