Thank you Tara. Breeds/Bunker hill was a morale booster for the American Army. Although technically a British victory the American Army gained self respect and the courage to fight again.

Thanks for the "rest of the story" on the battle of Breeds hill, Such bravery and sadly the loss of Dr. Warren who refused his rank for the battle (not official yet) and fought with the front line men. A good start to a long war, with many average people serving in many ways! America is the greatest country on earth and I'm proud to be an American!!!

This was a statement from America that we were seriously going to win. Amazing as that statement was, it did through hard work become fact. Thank you Tara. 🙏❤️💪🙏

Great morale booster. The entire revolution was proof of what determination can accomplish against great odds.🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

Dr Joseph Warren was killed during the battle of Bunker hill and his remains were identified a year after the battle by his relatives. He was one of the heroes of the revolution

Great story of a small but very significant battle of the Revolution. Thank you, Tara Ross.

🇺🇸 Under difficult condions, and with very little sleep, that these men stood toe to toe with the finest army of the time is unbelievable, but they did.

They risked their lives, family and lively hood for a country that didn't even exist...yet. True heroes, true Patriots. 🇺🇲

Thanks for the reminder, TR.

In 1840, Judah Touro gave $10,000 to complete the Bunker Hill Monument, which had been floundering for years.

In fact, there is a fascinating poem by America’s great orator, Daniel Webster, at the dedication ceremonies in 1843, thanking Touro and Amos Lawrence for their funding of this monument:

"Amos and Judah—venerated names Patriarch and prophet press their equal claims. Like generous coursers running "neck to neck," Each aids the work by giving it a check, Christian and Jews, they carry out one plan, For though of different faith, each is in heart a Man."

You never disappoint, Tara. The Americans surprised the British, but when you’re fighting for freedom you are determined to win. The victory didn’t come without cost as no victory ever can be. It’s kind of sad to see us having our freedom on the line and wondering if Americans are willing to fight to protect and preserve what others gave so much to secure for future generations of which we are the recipients. I hope we win the battle again.

So great to read this pivotal moment in our national history - it should be taught at every middle & high school across the country!

In my eighty + years, I've always been proud to be an American, but your stories bring us up close and personal to those who fought, and I have a new awareness, and real love for these early Americans who gave their all for this new country. I know that I had a few ancestors who fought in these battles, even earlier, in the French and Indian wars...a lot to be proud of, and thankful for.
