Absolutely Tara. It is easy to ignore history and historical meaning when it serves a purpose. Making Washington DC a state would mean that the new state with its electoral college votes will go to the party in favor of the beurocrats in Washington DC. Most assuredly, the State of Washington DC would have special favor and for the reasons you have stated, it is best to leave the District of Columbia as a non-state. Thank you Tara.
A good lesson in the importance of learning about and understanding our history. It is essential if we are to survive as a nation. The reason is because we were founded upon an idea, not because of one heritage. If we lose sight of that idea, then the country founded upon the idea of self governance and self determination , freedom and that all are equal...will end. If we forget what binds us into one nation, under God, indivisible with liberty and justice for all, no matter our many heritages, then we will splinter into factions and be the divided mess the left is trying to turn us into.
Oh that more people would actually read the Constitution and understand why it is written the way it is. This is yet another case of people not understanding the historical background for our form of government. I keep telling people "you want it changed, get a Constitutional Amendment." Good luck.
The motives behind giving D. C. electors and making it a state have nothing to do with looking out for the citizens and everything to do with politics. It's a solidly Democratic base. They want those 2 Senators.
Thanks Tara, your posts should be requied readin for students. Unfortunately the younger generations don't seem to know much about the constitution or its purpose. Actually it's not just them, I yell at the TV everytime I hear a politician say we have to save our democracy. We aren't a democracy we are a constitutional republic. Sorry rant over.
Leave it as a non-state. If the federal government was not so bloated and expanded beyond what the Constitution envisioned, then there would be no grounds for complaints.
An excellent, well founded commentary on the District of Columbia. Perhaps you should send this to letters to the editors to as many newspapers as possible so we the people across the nation can read this. Also if you allow your followers to send this article to all of our national legislators they will take this into consideration before voting on Statehood for DC.
Absolutely! We must continue to follow our Founding Principles..Back to basics, common sense, faith in God.
DC and the Electoral College must survive the whims of the tiktok generation!

Once again, the historical insight you have provided is indeed beneficial, Tara! Thanks!

Again,the founders had it correct.
Very well written and informative article.
All of this seems so logical to me Tara. But in these days logic seems to have taken a back seat to “MY NEEDS”.

Thank you Tara Ross for your consideration.

Great read on an important topic best to leave as our for fathers set it
Brilliant commentary. How do we keep DC from becoming a state?
