Thank you Tara! I love this ! Our children, grandchildren need to be taught these perspectives, the facts of our young republic. Our ancestors fought and died for our freedoms. I am so proud to be born in this great country! Today is my 70th birthday, I never realized what a big celebration it is! 🇺🇸🇺🇸💥

Your paragraph says it all. Congress and more importantly the "People" need many lessons in our history so that can take up these questions:

Are we living up to our heritage? & Are we carrying the baton of liberty forward?

The answer to these questions must always be “yes.”

God bless this country and those who lead us.

The current generation dropped the baton. It is not too late to pick it up and RUN!

I worry that we are going backwards lately, even as too many pat themselves on the back, believing they are better than those who came before them.

Yes, we are going backwards at breakneck speed. This generation, especially those born in the 1990's, have no idea what freedom really is. They trade government handouts for freedom. A Ben Franklin quote comes to mind.

What a beautiful essay. It should be required reading in every American Classroom. As well as in the Halls of Congress. God Bless the USA.

A wonderful perspective that, sadly, isn't shared by everyone...many of whom are too ignorant of history to be grateful to be living in the greatest, freest, most tolerant nation in human history.

In this leg of the marathon social justice warriors are superimposing their morality and ethics on history and the leaders are enabling them. It is always easier to blame someone else than to take responsibility yourself. At one time we legislated policies that were good for the overall health and wellbeing of the citizenry. Today unelected bureaucrats mandate policy and the executive branch issues executive orders designed to retain power while weakening the power of the citizenry. Your words are on point and yes everyone should read them and learn based on your very real perspective. But will they? Or, will they abdicate their responsibility because leadership has relegated their duty as citizens to be impotent. Preserving our Republic will always be a struggle.

Amen. Thank you Tara.

I believe that this post is probably the most important of yours that I have read.

This should be read and understood by every American. This marathon leg that we are running is just about to stumble and fall if we fail to heed your words.

This experiment in Democracy is at a crossroad and we need to wake up very soon or we will take the wrong path that will prove to be a dead-end.
