Spring Break Quotes, #TakeTwo
"The mode of appointment of the Chief Magistrate of the United States is almost the only part of the system, of any consequence, which has escaped without severe censure."
My week of quotes from March continues. . . . In a shocking twist, I failed to do this quote yesterday, on its actual anniversary. 😆
More on this paper, here.
Friendly reminder that stories resume on Monday. Happy Spring Break!
Fantastic idea to use great quotes by great Americans during spring break.. No matter that you missed the actual anniversary date. These quotes are applicable and good on any day.
Thank you Tara. The Electoral College system of selecting our Chief Magistrate is very clever and fair. When properly understood and implemented, it is perhaps a nearly perfect mechanism. However, because it is a bit cumbersome to understand, it is not universally understood and it is not well accepted in our current time. It is under attack as archaique and unnecessary. The popular vote is easy to understand but majority vote does not provide equality for our disparate interests and geographic diversity.
Unfortunately, the Electoral College is not populated and executed by the most competent individuals and public pressures sway the vote instead of actually accomplishing an outcome in the best interests of the States it represents.
