ANSWER: Five. Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, Martin Van Buren, Chester Arthur, and Theodore Roosevelt. Of those five, Roosevelt was the only one who remarried before becoming President. The other four men never remarried at all. My story about Jefferson and his love story with his wife is here.

ANSWER: Three. John Tyler, Benjamin Harrison, and Woodrow Wilson. All three would eventually remarry.

ANSWER: Three. John Tyler and Woodrow Wilson were both widowed, then remarried while they were President. Grover Cleveland was a bachelor when he was elected President, but he got married while in office.
